Ubisoft, the renowned creator of the beloved ‘Assassin’s Creed’ franchise, has officially released its first original non-fungible token (NFT) game, titled ‘Champions Tactics.
This exciting new title marks a significant step for Ubisoft in the realm of blockchain gaming, combining their expertise in storytelling and gameplay with the burgeoning world of digital assets.
Champions Tactics invites players into a vibrant, immersive universe where they can engage in strategic battles while collecting unique NFT characters and items. Each NFT within the game is a digital collectible that offers players, exclusive abilities and upgrades, providing a personalized gaming experience.
The game allows players to assemble teams of “Champions”—digital collectibles with unique abilities—to engage in player-versus-player battles in a dark fantasy setting. The game features 75,000 Champion characters and includes a crafting system called The Forge, where players can combine existing Champions to create new ones with different traits.
In addition to the 75,000 Champion NFTs minted on Oasys, Ubisoft also launched 9,999 free Ethereum NFT profile pictures (PFPs) in late 2023 in a project called The Warlords. Those NFTs now start at a price of $60 worth of ETH on secondary marketplaces.
Gaming giant Ubisoft is set to launch a 10,000 piece NFT collection on Ethereum scaling network Arbitrum in the coming weeks via the Magic Eden marketplace. These NFTs will allow holders to play the upcoming top-down shooter Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. early. Set in a fascist dystopian world inspired by the Netflix series "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix"—which itself is inspired by Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon game
Ubisoft has been exploring the integration of blockchain technology into their offerings for some time, and ‘Champions Tactics’ is a testament to their dedication to evolving the gaming landscape. As the market for NFTs continues to grow, the company aims to stay at the forefront, providing players with innovative ways to interact with their favorite games.
“We’re excited to introduce ‘Champions Tactics’ as our first foray into the world of NFT gaming,” said Nicolas Pouard, VP of Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovations Lab.
This project allows us to experiment with new gameplay mechanics while giving players more ownership over their gaming experience. We believe this is just the beginning of what’s possible in the future of gaming.
Players can look forward to participating in tactical battles, forming alliances, and exploring a richly detailed world
