Fractional Uprising Studios, the developers behind the Ethereum-powered battle royale game OpenSeason, have officially pulled the plug on the project due to financial pressures and plummeting token value. The studio announced today that it is abandoning the Fortnite-like shooter, which featured NFT-inspired avatars and crypto-native memes, to focus on a controversial new venture: Booby Bot, a puzzle game centered on AI-generated nudity and crypto gambling.

OpenSeason, launched on the Epic Games Store with NFT access passes and its own FU Money (FU) token, struggled to balance the demands of game development with the volatility of its cryptocurrency ecosystem. Co-founder Krypticrooks cited funding issues and high server costs as key reasons for the shutdown, joining a growing list of crypto games that have folded in 2025. The studio previously made headlines in December 2024 when it burned 82% of its FU token supply after a chaotic “Mega Jeet” competition, a move that sparked outrage among some players.

The pivot to Booby Bot marks a drastic shift in direction. Described as a “lewd puzzle game” where players wager cryptocurrency to uncover hidden AI-generated images, the project has already stirred controversy. “It’s just boobs and gambling,” Krypticrooks said in a statement, embracing the provocative rebrand with a tongue-in-cheek tone. The game aims to attract “degens” — crypto slang for speculative investors chasing high-risk opportunities — but has drawn criticism for its reliance on explicit content and questionable ethics.

Some users online mock the studio’s desperation. “Fractional Uprising pivots to AI-generated nudity & crypto gambling after token plunge,” wrote @sqwareterminal, capturing the polarizing nature of the move. The studio’s Discord community has reportedly been a mix of satire and frustration, with players questioning the project’s future.
